"Only a fool or a fraud talks tough or romantically about war ..." McCain is quoted in a new commercial released on Friday. He goes on to say. "I hate war. And I know how terrible its costs are." "I'm running for president to keep the country I love safe,"
The 30-second spot, released Friday, appears aimed at countering efforts by Senator Barack Obama's campaign to portray McCain as a warmonger for his support for persevering in Iraq.
Titled "Safe," it also pushes the McCain camp's message that America would be more secure under a McCain presidency than under the leadership of his much-less-experienced Democratic opponent.
